Tyla Arnason - Certified Yoga Instructor

Tyla Arnason
Certified Yoga Instructor

I would like to personally welcome you to THE YOGA EFFECT, my yoga business and passion.

Finding a well-qualified yoga instructor in a time when yoga has become very trendy and popular, can be a daunting task. The credibility and positive effects of yoga have thankfully prompted students to expect more from their teachers.  Please take a few moments and allow me to share my yoga journey with you.

Long before I found yoga, I was a competitive gymnast in my hometown of Winnipeg, MB.  I moved to Calgary in 1999 and added running and hiking to my list of pursuits.  The day of my first 10km race I was in a car accident that caused significant injury.

Soon after, I found yoga as a means to alleviate chronic pain and migraines.  Yoga helped relieve the pain and, more importantly, allowed me to manage my own rehabilitation without the use of medications and invasive techniques.  I came to love the effect that yoga had in bringing my body from a place of dysfunction back into balance.  The good news is that yoga has not only helped renew my body, mind and spirit, but has created a place in my life for a healthier me.  My practice complements my life in so many ways, but, equally important, it promotes wellness which makes me a better wife and mother.

I have practiced yoga since 1999.  However, a more committed journey began in 2004, followed by the commencement of my first Teacher Training Program in 2005.  I have been passionately teaching yoga since 2006 after resigning from a successful corporate career.  Since 2011 I have been blessed to further train certified yoga instructors and empower them to deepen their understanding of anatomy and the body and enable them to work with those who have been given a cancer diagnosis.

For me, yoga is more than just something I do to keep in shape, it is a state of being.  It is a way of living my life with balance, gratitude and peace.  Yoga has never felt like an obligation for me because I allow it to fit into my life and not the other way around.  Outside of yoga, I love spending time with my family, reading, golfing, cooking, hiking and photography.  I’m dedicated to helping people improve their wellbeing and live a better quality of life.  I invite you to come share a yoga practice with me and feel for yourself the difference yoga can make.
